SECOA has manufactured and installed stage equipment for the new Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis, a $125 million complex with three performance spaces. The design of the new facility included stage systems with many unique features and requirements.
“This project presented several challenges because of the distinctive requirements of the Guthrie’s new facilities,” commented Steve Hagen, Chief Operating Officer at SECOA. “We had to engineer, build, and test some systems from the ground up. And then we had to get the equipment from the ground up to the 3rd and 9th stories of the new building, where the theatres are located. This was difficult because the equipment for this project was quite large.”

A recent survey of compensation professionals indicates that 88 percent of managers and professionals receive incentive pay in their organizations. A Hay Group Compensation Survey Report (2005) found senior managers receive 25% to 92% of their total pay in the form of incentives as compared to employees in lower-level support positions (4%-5%). Executive pay has more than doubled in recent years primarily as a result of pay packages that emphasize a variety of incentive programs.
Incentive pay plans are defined as formula-driven pay plans designed to reward the accomplishment of specific results. Rewards usually are tied to expected results identified at the beginning of the performance cycle. The plans can be individual, group, companywide or a combination.

Considering an Online MBA (Masters of Business Administration) but don't want take the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or Graduate Record Exam (GRE)? GetEducated.com's National Survey of Online MBAs has revealed that the majority of Regionally Accredited Online Business Schools - more than 70% - have abolished the GRE or GMAT for MBA admission.
Even more surprising, 10 out of 50, or 20% of AACSB-accredited Online MBAs do not require the GRE or GMAT for admission.
"The no GMAT or GRE MBA admission trend in online education is not a sign of inferior quality," explains Vicky Phillips, GetEducated.com's chief online education analyst. "It's a sign of changing student demographics. Because online MBA degree programs cater to nontraditional, older adult students many of them are abandoning old school tests - tests which were designed as measures of preparedness for students who had recently completed an undergraduate education. Instead, online MBA programs look for adult students who demonstrate real-life success in the world of work."

One in two (54%) private investors sees Contracts for Difference (CFDs) as a means of trading against a weak market, according to a recent survey by Barclays Stockbrokers. With the FTSE 100 falling by 10 per cent in June, the findings show that private investors recognise CFDs as an effective way to trade profitably when market conditions would otherwise deter them.
Barclays Stockbrokers has seen the highest ever levels of CFD trading amongst its client base - an increase of a third since the start of the year. This and the widespread awareness of CFDs as an alternative means of trading in testing market conditions indicates that investors are becoming increasingly sophisticated. Investors are also becoming increasingly au fait with the flexibility presented by CFDs as 30 per cent of trades are placed in indices as opposed to half this at the start of the year.

A new report by WTRS, "ZigBee Emerging Technology Report," examines the market potential, intellectual property issues, state of the industry supply chain, effectiveness of existing technologies and components, total addressable market of the applications adopting ZigBee today, and market share of the existing component level hardware and software products.
Among the drivers of market adoption for ZigBee are the product diversity and consumer-focused innovation that the ZigBee alliance enjoys due to its partnerships and participation with a broad range of silicon manufacturers who have intimate knowledge of customer requirements across a broad spectrum of applications and segments. The ZigBee standard faces competition from 802.15.4, Wavenis, INSTEON, and Z-Wave. However, the advantage that ZigBee holds is its ability to enter the market by “piggybacking” on existing IEEE 802.15.4 products as well as the more mature proprietary products that ZigBee will replace.
